Mercury Ethanol was formed by Olympus Energy Group in late 2006 to become our first renewable fuels project for our site located in Alma, Nebraska. Mercury will be the operating company responsible for the successful construction, financing, and daily operations of this ethanol facility. Alma, NE is on the southern side of the most productive corn producing land in what is now known as the Corn Belt. Mercury has secured land options on 220 acres on the east side of Alma and adjacent to the Nebraska, Kansas, and Colorado (NKCR) railroad. Initial name plate operating capacity of the facility will be 55 million gallons per year, however this facility and related infrastructure is engineered to allow for easy future expansion to 110 million gallons per year. In addition to the production of Ethanol, the facility will also produce approximately 175,000 tons of dried distiller’s grains which Mercury intends to market both locally and globally as part of its revenue stream. It is anticipated that the facility will begin production in the fourth quarter of 2009. Once operational Mercury will provide Harlan County and other areas of rural Nebraska with over 150 well paying direct and indirect jobs and millions of dollars will be injected into the local economy and infrastructure of the rural Midwest. The operation of an ethanol production facility will also provide higher more stable income to America’s farmers and other agricultural industries across the United States.
